When you go into your world as the guest on LAN Multiplayer, and put a few blocks in your inventory hotbar, then tap them, them disconnect and go back on, you will have 200 (99+) of that item in the same stack, even if it is a tool/weapon.
This happens with iron, gold, lapis lazuli, swords, pickaxes, sticks, bows, arrows, diamond blocks, gold blocks, shovels, sugarcane, cake, milk, wheat, steak and apples
EDIT: Was fixed in 0.8.1 🙂

I have the same problem, and only as a guest. We also seem to have a lot of disconnections happening. Also, as a guest, items placed dont always seem to register for anyone else playing, and if you disconnect and reconnect the items are sometimes missing.
Last thing is that I was trying to place torches and they just turned into sand the second they were placed. Had to disconnect and reconnect to fix. Happened with a few other things too. Dirt and iron ore both also turned to sand, wooden planks turned to stone blocks.

@Rmurnane are you sure the block placing isn't MCPE-6445?

It seems that this is still an issue in 0.12.1 (specifically Win 10 PC edition)
See my attached images - some tools have duped to over 99+ items o_O
I'm not sure what has caused this, but will try to recreate the bug and post my findings.
Until then, just posting the evidence.
