Barrels do not accept items from hopper minecarts

When you place a hopper minecart on top of a barrel. the items will not flow down into the barrels. 

This exact setup works with hoppers and should with barrels too.

You have to put a hopper pointing into the barrel (or chest) under the hopper minecart.

In other words, hopper minecarts do not push items, they only pull and collect.
