Custom animated blocks stuck on certain position after adding too many frames

I believe this goes for all Minecraft versions but it seems like there is a max amount of frames that an animated texture can have. When trying to create custom blocks, anything under around 125 frames shows up fine on the block. If you go above that to say 140+ when the block is placed it'll only show the first texture and freeze on it, opposed to going through the cycle of showing all the frames in the animated textures. I've tested this on Java and can't recreate this bug. Is there anyway around this?
