A shulker box cannot be opened if there is any block above them, even if this block is transparent. This includes half slabs and even trap doors. In the very least, the behavior should match normal chests.

Thanks for the response. An open shulker box actually opens only half a block, seen in this screenshot, just like chests. Feel free to confirm this. Also, the Minecraft Wiki states that Shulker boxes can indeed open with transparent blocks above them since they occupy 1.5 blocks when opened. I hope you have a nice day too!

I'm pretty sure that this is a working as intended feature. It makes sense to me why they dont open if there is a transparent block above them, because their animation when they open occupies a whole block above them. I hope you understand what I mean.
