However, unfortunately this report is Incomplete.
It does not contain enough information and as such, we've unable to understand or reproduce the bug. Without understanding how far you believe "too far" is its impossible to tell whether this is working or not. Piglins within a 32 block radius will attack and some from just outside that range can be called in by others so it would appear to be working as expected but more information would be needed to say for sure.
Please have a read through the Guide on creating bug reports and make sure to include enough information in a new report so that a volunteer can easily reproduce the bug you describe.
Screenshots, videos and clear reproduction steps help immensely in getting your report confirmed.

When you provoke, or open a chest near a Piglin, the Piglins that were called for reinforcements would also call for other Piglins in its area to attack you.
