Died next to bed from fall damage, lost all but equiped items

So today I started completing trophies, and one of them was placing a scaffolding on max height, so I made a pillar up. On completing the trophy, I jumped down because I thought I could reach the water, but I was way off. So I died. I made this pillar 10 blocks from my house/bed so I thought it wasn't a big deal, but on jumping down from my house, to my loot, I saw that every item in my inventory was missing. The only things on the ground were my Equiped armor, my xp and the map I Was holding in my offhand, all the rest was missing. I was pretty upset, because I lost my sword and tools, all with max enchants and mending...

I was pretty annoyed, I tried to replicate it by making a copy of the world and doing it again, but this time everything dropped, I couldn't replicate it...

This is something that has to be fixed!
