I was searching through YouTube for red-stone alternatives. They showed an example so I tried recreating it: However, I got very frustrated because the sand keeps on falling through the torch no matter what position I place it in, or how high I placed it.

Sand, red sand, and gravel all go through torches. It's not a glitch or anything. It's made to do that to clear sand, red sand, and gravel faster. It works on the computer and X-box version.
