In my villager trading building I use trapdoors and gates to keep villagers in their sections. Either they a using the trapdoors and gates, which isn’t meant to happen or they are de-spawning, which is also a bug. Thanks for your help.

I’m not sure, how could I check on pocket edition? The building does span more than one chunk (which I think is 16x16)

Enable coordinates, then stand on a block. If either the X or the Z coordinate is either a multiple of 16 or (a multiple of 16) - 1, it is adjacent to a chunk border. (Chunk borders are always multiples of 16 blocks from X=0, Z=0.)
Please confirm that you are not using a Beta release. There have been very many changes to despawn logic in this Beta, so we need to be certain to avoid wasting a lot of time.
Please also tell us more, if you can, about what you've been doing between the last time you saw a villager and the time you realized it was gone. Did you travel outside your simulation distance (probably 64 blocks) from the villagers? Use a portal? Exit and reload the world? Do villagers all disappear together, or just one or two at a time? Do you notice anything else the disappearing villagers have in common, such as having/not having a bed or workplace block? Anything you take notice of could be an important hint.
Are the villagers located near a chunk border?
