I've made a contraption where mobs get pushed by a water stream into a pressure plate that then triggers pistons to push a slime block and launch them across ice into a water column. The problem is that majority of the time the pistons aren't pulling the slime back. The slime isn't touching anything except the face of the piston behind it and that piston pulls in every time though.

I think this is due to the random redstone update order in Bedrock Edition. If the piston pulling the piston slime retracts first, then the piston slime does not get pulled b/c it is stuck to the slime other piston, but then the slime and that piston gets pulled back by the piston pulling the slime and the slime does not come with it. However, if the piston pulling the slime piston pulls first, the slime stays stuck to the other piston, and when that one gets pulled back it does not brings the slime with it. Or something like that! Try un-powering one piston at a time to see what might be happening.
It may help with what you are trying to do to use glazed terracotta where some of the empty spaces are, b/c it does not stick to slime blocks.
Edit: after testing I realized I had it backwards.

I’ve tried placing glazed terracotta in those empty spaces But it didn’t work so and i removed them. I just delayed the first piston by one tick so that it pulls the slime after the piston in the back. Thank you so much for the help!!
