when trading with villagers instead of leveling up they go back to the start of the level they were at before the nether update

I just experienced this terrible issue today. I had two Apprentice librarians, and as I traded with one of them, I watched their experience meter go up until it was near full, meaning that one more trade should level them up (to level 3). However, as I traded again and saw the villager's meter go full, the meter was reset and the villager was still an Apprentice (at level 2), not offering his next tier trades, while all experience was reset, likely because the game assumed the villager leveled up. This is really frustrating, and I'm not sure whether it affects the player's popularity in the village or not.

This never affected me in any version before 1.16.0. It affects me now on PlayStation 4, so please update the issue's status (Affects Platforms: ___________).

I have also had this problem on Nintendo Switch 1.16.0 with an Apprentice cartographer, experience bar filled up after some trades with panes of glass, and then after hitting the top, rolled over again but villager did not level up.

That's exactly what happened to me, but it was with both of my Apprentice librarians!
