So I was in the nether exploring a Piglin bastion when one of the piglins pushed me into the lava, I said "no worries, I have a totem and a fire resistance potion, I'm fine." So when I finally pop the totem I get the 30 seconds of fire resistance from it and then I drink and 8 minute fire resistance potion. But when the 30 seconds of the totem are up, it got rid of my fire resistance potion too. This event happened to me 2 different times in one day and I nearly lost all my netherite gear ( because they burn in lava now) luckily I managed to fly away with my elytra before I died. I encountered this bug on a realm, idk if that matters or not.

Sorry I had to cut out the 30 seconds of the totem effect, if I didn’t do that the file size of the video would’ve been to large to upload, you can try this on a realm if you don’t believe me. Also in the video I accidentally typed potion effect, I meant to say totem effect.

This is caused by the totem giving you fire resistance level 2 (which is pointless, and was just recently adjusted on java), so anytime you drink a fire resistance potion with the active totem affects, the level 2 overpowers your potion, wasting your effect and only lasting the original 30 seconds from the totem.
If totems only gave level 1 fire resistance, this wouldn't be an issue (:

Still in 1.16.10

Your fire resistance effect from the potion was gone because of MCPE-74059. For totem giving you fire resistance 2, see MCPE-52364.

Netherite items don't burn in lava anymore that was fixed in 1.16.1

This is a duplicate of MCPE-74059 and MCPE-52364.
