Crying obsidian uses new texture in classic texture pack

It is NOT obsidian. It is a crying obsidian. It is new. So it hasn’t got any old texture.

This should be fixed as Pocket Edition had the old texture in the game in 0.1.0 Alpha and removed in 0.2.0 Alpha.

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.

I would add that this would also be a parity issue before 1.15, so it would have to instead be a Minecraft Feedback suggestion, since Pocket Edition did at one point have the old texture in the same way as Java.
