Minecraft 0.11.1 crashes invoking keyboard

Actually the version reads 0.11.1.

Any invocation of the keyboard causes the app to crash. Cannot attach screenshot of a black screen.

Example in game:

*Creative mode.
*Place Sign.
*There is a long pause with a blank sign on the screen.
*The entire screen goes black. Tablet needs to be rebooted.

A similar thing arises when attempting to use the in game messaging.
