Unfortunately, I forgot to screenshot this, and currently it is out of battery. So if this is unclear, I'll try my best to explain. Again, sorry for having no screenshots if this is unclear...

Confirmed on Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 MCPE 0.11.1 (June 11, 2015 version thereof) in both creative and survival modes however; in survival mode, placing the second vine does not change the number of vines in your inventory - suggesting the vine is moved, not destroyed when this occurs?
What happened: placing the second vine occurred silently simultaneously with the first vine disappearing silently. In survival, this action did not change the number of vines in my inventory.
I expected placing the second vine to fail similar to what happens for ladders or torches in a corner (the block tapped highlights briefly but nothing happens).
Details
The type of blocks that form the "corner" don't matter so long as you can place vines.
Similar to ladders and torches on walls you cannot place vines on adjacent vertical surfaces of a corner (i.e. the adjacent vertical surfaces are part of the same air block). This makes sense because the first vine, torch or ladder occupies the block (even if it's just a small thickness for vines and ladders).
Accordingly, trying to place a ladder on the opposite side of a corner from an existing ladder fails. In contrast, placing the second vine causes the first vine to silently disappear and another vine to silently appear on the other side of the corner.
I also tested what happens when you have a vine on one side of the corner and place a torch or ladder on the other (as expected vine disappears and placing ladder/torch succeeds) and what happens when a ladder or torch is placed first and then you try placing a vine (as expected, nothing happens).

Does this issue still affect version 0.12.3 or later? If so please respond so we can reopen this issue.
I wasn't trying to make the vines appear on both sides of the corner (that's not possible since the first vine occupies the block, albeit only 1/16th of one side). Rather I was noting the inconsistency between ladder and vine behavior. You may be right that this works as intended - vines on one side of a corner disappear whenever you place something else on the other side of the corner, so it's only natural that it happens when the item you place on the other side of the corner is also vines! O_o I think I just logicked myself out of a bug...
