I expected the game to load and allow me to play.
Instead, the game only gets to the loading screen (with the Minecraft logo and the progress bar). Then the console hard crashes and shuts down.
Steps to reproduce:
Turn the Xbox One S console on. I keep it on power save mode, so it's always a clean boot.
Log in to my profile.
Start Minecraft.
Wait until the loading screen with the Minecraft logo and the progress bar.
Once the progress bar reaches about halfway, the console shuts down.
Further information:
I have been playing in my Xbox One S for some time now.
No problems until now, after the Nether update. I was able to play with the Nether update once, after that, the console crashes.
Other games run fine.
Troubleshooting steps taken:
Removing and reinstalling the game. Did not help.
Console reset, keeping data. Did not help.
Console reset, deleting all games and data, followed by a reinstall of Minecraft. Did not help.

I am using Xbox one X. Same thing as explained above. In addition, the hard crash has happened during the "quite and save" process also. As of this report each has happened once today.
Same here. Played once on my new Series X, then Minecraft just shut down the entire console. Ever since I am unable to launch any world or even join my own realm. Reinstall didn't help too. Opened an issue as well - hope it can be fixed with an upcoming update.
Cleaning up old tickets: This ticket had been set to 'Awaiting Response', but has not received a response from the reporter (~3 months+) so is being closed as Incomplete. If you feel this is still a valid issue then please comment, or create a new ticket following the Issue Guidelines which includes steps to reproduce the problem.
