I have just witnessed an iron golem spawning on a bottom half Blackstone brick slab. The area around the first layer of my iron farm is half slabbed iron golem are spawning on this layer preventing further iron golems from spawning.

Iron golems also appear on other illicit blocks. Sometimes I have a golem in that part of my farm that consists only of transparent blocks (glass, leaves, brewing stands, ...), switches or carpets.
