Went exploring with map. Put it in a chest and a village. Took it back went back exploring without it in hand. Eventually when done looting back in hand ready to get back home the map wont register my location and update. I’d go off in one direction towards my camp. Not sure how to explain it but I’d go a distance until the pointer changes direction when I’m going or trying to go straight up. Can’t find my way back home.

i have a same problem for tihs exploring , dont go to the edge of the map it will be like that.
