Map pointer / marker not working when near edge of map on PS4

Is this issue gonna get resolved because I'm 22.000 blocks away on my way back from raiding a woodland mansion and cant afford for my map to take me elsewhere instead of home , as I have a couple stops on the way back to grab extra diamonds and whatever else I found on the way 

Jist want to play some minecraft and get back to my village 

It’s been 2 days...? There’s more important bugs to patch than maps being a little broken. Especially when you can play with co-ordinates on and navigate that way. Or use a compass. They are both working fine. Map pointers are just slightly broken if you leave a maps radius.

Well not always, I'm fairly new to playing minecraft, I didnt even know how to display coordinates .. Or even to know to record them and a compass only helps if your spawn is set to your home/main place so the map being broken is a big issue for me personally & its not a little broken its useless outside the boudries of the map especially if you saved while away from home base. I know it takes time to fix things though.

I have the same problem, I really hope it is fixed soon. 

Hello again. I'm not sure if this should be used as a chat but i'm with laura. At first i was very disappointed too but it's not a big deal anymore. As i said the pointer goes wrong only if u leave the actual map to the north or west. Just create a new map or walk back south/east when ur pointer jumps 

The pointer works fine when you're at a position within the area covered by the map, but when you are OUTSIDE the map area the pointer now behaves strangely and misleadingly. It moves WITHIN the current map (even though you're not located in that area).

Before the Nether update the pointer would hug the edge of the map, indicating where you are relative to the map in your hand.  

My brother and I are having the same problem with our maps. Also, treasure maps are not working either. 

Im having this bug to im on ps4 i made another issue as i didnt see this 1 i really hope this gets sorted quickly i need some totems i only have 1 left 😞

Last night was the first night I tried to use maps after the 1.16 update.  Existing world created before the 1.16 update.  Most of my maps were created before the 1.16 update, but one of the maps I used last night was created on the fly while exploring.  PS4, split-screen couch co-op.

Two things were happening:

1.  the above mentioned "teleporting" of the map icon when near edges of the map.  Map was still being filled in, but my marker would move all over the place.  This issue persisted and was quite annoying.

2.  A small representation of a player was placed on the map.  I believe it to be what my wife's player was actually wearing at the time.  This player on the map was not in the actual location of my wife's player marker, but in strange locations, some of which had yet to be explored on the map.  This would happen for a little bit until the map was removed from view.  This issue did not persist.

This bug makes explorer maps useless, since there's no way to know in which direction to go to get to the location in the map.

Also having this issue. Fresh install of Nether version, new save file (not a previous saved game)

New, secondary locator maps made at a cartographer block also do no 'uncover' if used when beyond the main map's uncovered range. The locator blip stays in the center (being viewed while in tool bar. Other map, with the 'jumping cursor' being held in off-hand)

The best way to describe what I'm experiencing is: spawn point is origin; when I move past the edge of the initial 3:4 zoom map border, the cursor' blip goes back to what would be the PoO on the map, though the displayed coordinates are updated correctly. it begins visually tracking as though it was relative to the initial spawn point. This also applies while in the Nether.

Is this happening on any other platform or just PS4?

I just want my fricking treasure maps to work so I can get conduit I am very sad

Excuse me, i'm german. But already said twice, to pointer works fine when u are south or east of ur current map. When the pointer shows wrong location ur north or west outside the map. But the pointers direction is still correct so u just have to walk towards south/east to get to ur used map, even if it's a treasure map. Not about this thread but through the update i've lost several villagers, horses and stuff and my game crashes at least once per 2 hours 

In response to is this just PS4. I’m assuming yes as the report hasn’t been updated to state otherwise. I have a save on XBox and the maps work fine. 
In response to the over all issues IE map pointers, if the pointer has already glitched to another part of the map it doesn’t go back to where it should be. So that makes using treasure maps hard as if the pointer has bugged out you’re going to have a hard time navigating. 
It’s not just a case of change your direction. I got lost yesterday and all(4)  my maps broke because I went too close to the right edge of a map. The pointer on every map was then stuck in a random place. I don’t know how I fixed it but after 10 ish minutes of swapping the maps in my inventory and putting them in chests, taking them back out again the point reset itself back to where it should have been. I made it back because I write my co-ordinates down. But it was a nightmare. The maps in general are currently very broken. Every time you load back into a save the names have gone. So if you don’t have them displayed you don’t know which map is which. Opening them all is risky as it can activate the bug that causes the pointer to get stuck.

Thankfully we have other ways to navigate for now. Treasure maps and the likes will just have to wait I get, I don’t use them so it’s no loss for me.

Possible workaround: put a map in the off-hand and one in the Hot-bar. Select the map in the Hot-bar. The maps should be fixed; at least it worked for me on Bedrock 1.16.1.  I know it sounds hokey, but it is probably how Laura Wilks got her maps to work. 

PS4 Nether update v1.16.0 player also having the same issue. I also find, if someone joins my world, multiple markers in different locations for the one player are created on the map. The locations appear to be random and the real marker is the only one that moves. I travel mostly by co-ordinates as well, so this isn’t a major inconvenience.

This is also happening to me. I have an infinite survival world and any map I use aside from the one I spawned with shows no player icon. The player icon always stays in the first map. As far as I know, the Ps4 edition is the only victim of this glitch.

Since the Nether update on the PS4 version of Minecraft, locater maps have been doing this same thing; working fine until you get to the edge of the map and then bouncing your arrow to the middle of the map and only moving slightly and not accurate. The player marker will show you're on the map but this impossible as you just left the map. Although there's ways around it, using coordinates etc., it's really an inconvenience. One can barely see the player marker off center and can assume that one had gone off the side of the map the marker leans too, and use the direction of the arrow to guide oneself back to the original map, but this can become problematic if there's a big distance between oneself and the map. I only travel by coordinates now because of this. 

I have same problem, everytime i make a new world it's same problem 

i didn't see your report and my report it's just a duplicate ,  it's already a month but i think . still same issue until now.

in future take pictures of your ps4 with your phone the right way up my suggestion is to always take pictures with your phone sideways

Been having this same issue on PS4. Ruins the fun of treasure and explorer maps since you have no idea which direction to go in order to get to the area of the treasure, etc. Basically you just have to get lucky and be in the area of the treasure when you look at the map which is a real pain.

Truly annoying but as i said not a big problem. The pointers direction remains correct. So if u are not in the current map area but the pointer is just walk towards south / east. Sry, i don't know how to explain exactly but i tried several times already

Same issue for me on PS4 since nether update. Incredibly frustrating to see your marker bouncing around the map! Player 2 also doesn't have a marker but a full sized player 😂

Is this bug actually going to be fixed or what we’ve had updates and this is just being ignored I can’t really do much on my world till this is fixed so hurry up and fix it please
