I found my way to a stronghold using ender eyes but there is nothing in the stronghold and it is very small. My version is completely updated as well. What is the issue?

As info, this is an unfortunate side effect of how the game generates worlds. To create a reasonably realistic looking world, the game uses pseudo-randomizing algorithms to calculate the locations, sizes, and specific shapes of each structure it generates. But sometimes their areas can overlap, and it's not practical (i.e. it would be too difficult or require too many device resources) for the game to check for overlaps, so it just lets an earlier structure be (partially) overwritten by a later one.
