I was flying around my city it froze and when I opened the app again I was in an unfamiliar land and all my buildings were completely gone

Here's my Experience playing MCPE:
The game does not save until you exit the world and unfailliar place is where the game last saved before you moved into your place and build the Buildings and idk why your game freezes.

Try taking out a compass. Sometimes it teleports you somewhere random in your world. (Happens to me as well)
