Minecraft loses its ability to connect to Realms when the user sleeps their Xbox One.
If the Minecraft app is running on the Xbox when the user manually puts it to sleep, e.g., at the end of the day, upon resume a "cannot connect to Realms" message appears instead of the user's joined Realms. Forcefully quitting and restarting Minecraft resolves the issue.
Steps to Reproduce
Have an Xbox One (model or system build doesn't appear to matter) configured for Instant-On.
Play Minecraft on a Realm.
Exit to the main menu so that you see the "Friends" tab. Note that your Realm appears under "Joinable Realms."
Push and hold the Xbox button on the remote.
Select "Turn Off Console."
Wait for a short while, letting the console sleep.
Turn on the console.
Load the Minecraft app if necessary, and navigate to the Friends tab.
Expected Result
Your Realms should appear.
Actual Result
An error message indicates that you cannot access Realms right now. The message persists until you manually quit Minecraft by:
Tap the Xbox button
Select the Minecraft icon
Tap the Menu button
Select Quit
You can then relaunch Minecraft and your Realms appear as expected.
The workaround is to manually quit Minecraft using this method after every play session.

yes this is very annoying...

As noted in the description, completely quitting before shutting off console seems to work around the issue.

To be clear, completely quitting does not fix the issue; it's a workaround for the issue.
A workaround that isn't required for other games published by Microsoft-owned studios, I might add... one would think that Mojang's parent company could assist with whatever code is needed to refresh the main menu networking code upon wake from sleep.

How do I reopen this bug? It is still happening. It's been happening to me for the past couple of months after multiple updates, and I finally decided to look it up. I find that lots of other people had been having this issue for a couple years, according to the date on this bug.
Having to forcefully quit a game, in order to restart the game and make it work is not a fix. Let me be clear that is not a fix. That is a workaround. A fix would be that it would be able to reconnect the rooms right away. A better workaround would be to provide some option for me to tell Minecraft to refresh the connection.
I can confirm that the steps provided in this bug are correct. The expected results appears to be correct. The results actually seen are correct. Please let me know what more is needed by the developers in order to understand the scope of this issue?

Yes, it’s still an issue. Has been with every version since reported. And the report is already in the requested format. Is anyone actually reading these things…?

It is not clear why the ticket did not automatically reopen, but in any case, it is reopened now.
It is helpful if the original reporter updates the Affected Version at least for each non-beta release on their tickets to keep them active. Tickets with no activity at all can sometimes be caught up in automated resolving.
You can also request that tickets be reopened, as well as discuss bugs, on the Mojira Discord. In general that is more reliable than just commenting on a ticket.

I can also confirm this bug. I am a new Minecraft player, but experience this on my XBOX One X everyday since joining a Realms server. Even today after the 1.18.1 version update.
It is extremely annoying to have to completely quit out of the game and reload everything just to reconnect to the realms server.
I'd be happy to try any debugging steps with a dev if you need a volunteer where the issue is reproducible, but the steps to reproduce are accurate exactly to what I am experiencing.

Can add that this happens to my console even when I have not been playing on a realm previously.
Please confirm if this is still an issue for you
Can confirm. As an Xbox One player, I experience this issue all the time.
