"Leave Bed" Minecraft Crash

I join my son as Player 2, and we play split screen in Minecraft on our XBox One. I think we made the mistake of saving and quitting the game/world while each of us was in bed. Now when my son tries to return to that world, the world opens with his "in bed" screen momentarily before Minecraft crashes. Not thinking this could be an issue, we did the same to a new world my son created. We have tried unsuccessfully a couple of things. First, copying the world. The copy behaved just like the original. Second, I unsuccessfully tried to join as Player 2 while his "in bed" screen showed. Is this a bug? Is there something we can do on our end? We've promised each other to never save and quit while in bed again. Thank you for your kind attention.
