Stuck with leave bed GUI

Same issue. I'm on Xbox One X with the Nether Update installed today. Can't load into our world because we're in bed which results in a hang of sorts and then unexpected termination back to Xbox home screen. No workaround found.

Same issue, I'm on windows 10. It only happens for one survival world, my creative world loads and runs fine. Every time I open the survival world I get this black screen with Leave Bed/Open Chat, followed by the loading screen overlaid on the world selection screen, followed by the game crashing.

I had the exact same issue.

I just figured out my issue was a duplicate and others we are having the same issue.

I reported hitting this 2 days ago, however after giving up trying to load my world and going to bed I tried again the next day and was able to load just fine. My character was no longer in bed. I don't recall downloading a patch with a fix for this, so I'm unsure how 24 hours later I was able to simply load into the world without the Leave Bed/Open Chat button issue.

Luis said that they fixed the issue by trying 24 hours later. I have a question though, do you not play the world for 24 hours and wait or can you play it during the 24 hours of wait?

I will just try waiting 24 hours without playing. But please respond if it works even if you play it during the 24 hours. Also, what platform are you on Luis?

Oddly mine just started working again.  so for me the issue lasted a couple of hours.  So it just kind of went away.

EVERYONE, I FOUND A WAY TO FIX THIS ISSUE.
Basically, all you have to do is export the world and open it, for mobile users, just export it from the files. If this does not work for you, please let me know.

Ah that would do it 🙂. I forgot that I had exported the world, aka copied, in an attempt to change the mode to creative. I bet that did it. Good job!

Has anyone figured out a fix for this without exporting the world? I had my world data saved on the application (not external) and I don't have access to a computer so I'm unable to export it

I completely agree Alef, I've not been able to play my world for 3 days now and I was very hyped to finally be able to make potions and prepare to beat the ender dragon. I can't now.

It worked for me too. Just load the game and the world. It will crash. Load it again for ten tries. It worked for me on the tenth try. I even got back out and went back in and the world is perfectly normal now.

I had the same problem on Windows and I tried about 30 times to reopen the world and nothing worked. I ended up opening the chat and typing /setworldspawn 0 100 0 and then closed Minecraft and reopened it. When I logged back in I was standing on top of the bed. Hopefully this might solve your problem

When I had this issue, I had a friend of mine joined, broke the bed I was on and the blocks around me. After this I closed the app and I fired the world back up. Upon loading in I was free and able to play, nothing missing.

For me the broken world is my long-time survival world

I'm trying to get all the achievements in that world eventually, so cheats aren't turned on-- meaning I can't try out the /setworldspawn trick someone else mentioned 😞

I had been playing multiplayer in my world. My two friends had just logged off. I went to sleep in my bed and accindentally "x"ed out of the whole program instead of saving and quitting. When I started the program again and tried to load up my world, I see a black screen with the "Leave bed" and "Open chat" options. I made a copy to see if that would work, but the same thing happens. I can load all other worlds fine, even a world that is an old copy of this one that now won't load.

I found a glitch that when you place bone meal on the grass block below a red mushroom it will place bonemeal 100 times per second really fast it's creepy and weird and I would like it to get fixed please

Same happened to me today, I tried for 20 times and it is still the same. TBH it is a bit lame to try to by pass a bug with re opening the game. This is developers' job. I ain't mad but this bug is not fixed for forty seven days as today. It is not a small bug, we literally cannot play our game. Does this mean anything?

i was able to fix this bug for myself by clicking open chat instead of leave bed and doing /time set 0 and /kill (username) and then just joining back in afterwards (On windows 10 version of mc bedrock)

Try opening the world and having a friend join and destroy the bed you were sleeping in, along with the blocks below the bed and then cause it to crash after a little bit, reopen the world after crash and see it that works. It worked for me and my gfs world after having the glitch happen on our survival world

It happened the same to me, except I play on iOS mobile and the game inmeadiately crashed every time I opened the world. And now that I saw this post I realized that I didn't log out while sleeping either, and I thought I actually did. I really want this bug to be fixed because it happened on my main survival world and the last save I did was a while ago. Also, since it crashes inmeadiately, I can't even fix it using commands or asking a friend to join and destroy the bed.

I tried the suggestion from Mittens. I had three copies of my world that weren't loading any more. I don't have cheats enabled. So after typing the kill code it just told me that cheats weren't enabled. I entered /time set 0 and /kill (username) for two of them. And the last world I just typed /time set 0. After typing that on all of them the background screen changed. It was the loading screen (where the hints scroll through). When I tried to exit the screen the background changed to the world menu then the general menu, all layered over each other. I exited out if the whole program and when I logged back in I was able to play in my world. All three copies!

I gave a break for awhile to see if it would fix itself and it still has yet to, I really hope Mojang fixes this because my motivation to play has been ruined knowing this could happen to me again if I start a new world. I probably won't play for awhile until this is fixed to prevent it from happening in new worlds even if I can't have my one back. This is infuriating.

I am playing on Win10 edition and lost a survival world to this glitch. I tried multiple things like copying, exporting etc. and it still did not fix anything. In the end I had to delete that world. I hope this wont happen again with my new survival world and there will be a fix soon.

Hey all, I found a way to fix my world so I figured I’d share in in the hopes that it will work for you guys. Open the world but be prepared to act quick, the moment it opens just spam the open chat button. It might work differently for some people but for me it really opened the chat. It overlaid it with the world selection screen much like the original bug but I was able to type and send. That was all though, but it did prevent the crash. Now quit the app and reopen the world and it should work fine again. I have my world back. And yes, I did this on IOS which is my version, it’s the one that crashes the fastest so it is still possible for this trick to work.

I found a way to fix it on the xbox one when you see the bed gui you press B instead of A the world will crash then close the game and reopen it and it should be fixed

Just had this happen to me today and the "open chat" fix worked for me on Windows 10.  (Thanks Axel!)  I waited in chat for a little while (maybe a minute or two) before I closed out of the game and when I tried to load it again, it worked.  🙂

Open Chat did indeed work. The log was spamming "Respawn point set?" so maybe there's a clue for the devs.

So your answer is no, it's doesn't freeze, it crashes. So I'm guessing the trick to fix it doesn't work for you, hitting the open chat button. It's supposed to let you if you do it right before the crash, then it freezes, then you close the app and reopen it to find that the world works again. But if your game goes straight to the freezing then I wouldn't know how to help.

In answer to your question James, you don't have to time it, anywhere in those three seconds you can spam the chat button. From there it's pretty simple, the game shouldn't crash but you still can't play your world due to the overlayed chat and world selection screen. So close the game and reopen it, now your world should work fine.

My world also had this issue. Setting the sleeping NBT tag to 0 works. I saved my world without having to change it to creative or enable cheats.

If opening the chat doesn’t work like it does for most people then who knows, maybe the opposite works for you. Try leaving the bed and then reopening your world. Or scroll through the comments, I think a couple people have found other ways of fixing it.

I did something that worked, when I entered the world I chose the chat, and typed / killer, it will kill you and you will leave the game and enter again, mine worked.

PS4 same issue, crashes when loading and appearing to show I'm in bed. Happens on my main copy and backup copy. Have uninstalled/reinstalled, changed my avatar to generic Steve, etc. Nothing works. My version is the latest one pushed out on the PS4.

I was able to fix my game. Turned on the PS4, deleted the game and restarted the system. When the system booted up again, I downloaded the game from the Library...DO NOT START IT....when it finished I went into Network Settings and Unchecked Connect to Internet (first option listed). I then opened Minecraft, it crashed. I reopened it immediately and my World opened up. I moved off of the bed and did another action (inventory, etc.) I then hit Option, Save & Close. I went to Network Settings and Checked Connect to Internet (first option listed). I opened Minecraft and after all packs loaded it was back to normal.  Hope this helps and will advise if I get the error screen again. For now, it works.

Had the same issue on my PS4. I was able to spam the options as the world loaded and it pulled me from the sleep animation.

My 7 yr old just complained to me about this issue with a world he's been working on, disappointing to see there is still no fix with such a widespread problem, but that seems to always be the way with Mojang, they sit on known issues forever before they do anything about it.

@Damon Lightfoot That's unfair to say. There are 1000s of bugs to deal with, & most of them don't have a 2-minute fix. This bug is also difficult to come across, making patching more difficult.

Going into the chat to pause the crash and then getting someone to destroy the bed works on Mcpe, at least it worked for me. You should have to load the world one more time and it will spawn you right next to your bed. Best of luck, Pocket Edition players!

Guys after days of loading and reloading, panicking to make sure I dont lose 500+ hours of hard work and losing countless hours trying to ensure I get back in my world I think I found a way to fix all of our problems. So I knew the game would have some type of reaction if I change the resource pack and I did and the world continued to glitch harder and harder. So glitchy in fact i was able to open the chat and and be on the transparent main menu screen at the same time. I kept typing random things in the chat and minecraft kept glitching. So it thought let me reload again after my like 6th time and when i exited the game and closed it out from my switch I noticed that it did not say that the game had crashed and it closed like normal. So I knew I had done something. After waiting what seemed like forever the world loaded up and I was standing next to the bed i was so infamously attached to and was able to walk around like normal again. I still have yet to see if anything has broken in my world (Villagers, various farms, etc. . .) But I will steer clear of any beds before saving my world. 😂😂Hopefully this helps!!👍👍

So I knew the game would have some type of reaction if I change the resource pack and I did and the world continued to glitch harder and harder. So glitchy in fact i was able to open the chat and and be on the transparent main menu screen at the same time. I kept typing random things in the chat and minecraft kept glitching. So it thought let me reload again after my like 6th time and when i exited the game and closed it out from my switch I noticed that it did not say that the game had crashed and it closed like normal. So I knew I had done something. After waiting what seemed like forever the world loaded up and I was standing next to the bed i was so infamously attached to and was able to walk around like normal again. I still have yet to see if anything has broken in my world (Villagers, various farms, etc. . .) But I will steer clear of any beds before saving my world. 😂😂Hopefully this helps!!👍👍

Same issue.  Game crashed when I went to sleep then it would always crash when I tried to open the world again. The solution of tapping Open Chat as soon as you see which opens the chat, then close the game, and then go back in worked for me!

the same thing happened to me but when I was loading into it, it just randomly became normal. I didn’t do anything at all so I’m not sure how I really fixed the problem.

If you wait long enough for the world to become day without leaving the GUI, the game will automatically fix the problem.

As soon as the game loaded, I pressed "open chat" and typed a bunch of random things. When I exited the chat the game crashed but when I reentered I was unstuck. Anyway hope this helps.

Guys so using David Ray's comment and Guan Zheng Huangs comment I was able to fix the issue!

This might take a few tries but it's worth it! Spam the letter s after opening the chat menu and send it every 3 seconds in sequence once the s's reach the end of the chatbox line so about 25 s's.

It doesn't necessarily need to be the letter s but any letter spam it in the chatbox in sequence every 3 seconds and send it in chat so that the game buys u time to continue loading without crashing.

After doing this for about 2 minutes and yes I'm sorry but it has to be around 2 mins which means you will have to be spamming s in sequence about 2400 times. But after doing this for 2 mins click exit on the top right. Upon doing this the game will crash and if your on windows close Minecraft completely if your on console quit the application. After reopening the world it should be fixed if it doesn't keep trying it took me 5 tries but thank god it worked and I got my world back. I had created a world last year. I beated the ender dragon, wither, and was in the middle of building a secondary base. Leia, instead of hitting “Leave Bed,” click “Open Chat.” Then type anything, leave the chat, it’ll kick you out, and when you re-open it it should be good. If not, do those steps again.

My friend experienced this bug on nintendo switch. They tried to do some of the suggestions here, but they couldn't even open chat, the moment any button was clicked it would crash. Eventually all they did was start the game, wait for it to crash, start the game again wait for it to crash again, over and over and over again. It took 15-30 minutes of attempts before this bed-lock issue resolved itself.

I believe the fix is simply waiting for the in-game time to eventually become daytime. For some reason, the day-night cycle is retained even though the game crashes rather than exits, while other data, like player position is only saved periodically (which I believe is what causes the issue in the first place). Once it is daytime in the game, it successfully kicks you out of the bed (as it would do if you were to lie there waiting for other players to sleep all night long).

I'd like to add that the time it takes to resolve this will vary greatly depending on what time of night (in-game) the problem started, and how long it takes your device to restart the game.

After the title screen appears you cannot do anything else because the game uses the controllers selector in the title screen and not the chat. After all that mess i got to the home screen of the switch and closed the app. What is odd is that it didn't crash as expected but closed successfully. Then i thought "what if its a rendering issue" after all the first GUI screen to appear after the first chat message was the "loading resource packs" screen. So at the end i loaded the Mario resource pack, opened the world and waited. And at the end it worked. The world opened as the Mario texture pack and finally got free of the crash. 

Sorry if the explanation was too long but this investigation may be useful. So load the Mario resource pack, open your world, save it, exit, remove the Mario resource pack and hope that your world opens. That's all thanks.
