Switch freezes when trying to exit minecraft

My switch screen freezes when I click the home button to exit out of minecraft.

I had exited out of my world and was on the minecraft title screen and then pressed the switch's home button so I could close the application, but once I got to the switch home the entire switch froze. I was unable to press y to close minecraft fully, couldn't move between applications, touch screen didn't work, I couldn't even get to the sleep mode of my switch, I ended up having to do a force shut down of my switch to even get it to turn off.

it seems to happen every time as I just had it happen AGAIN while checking the minecraft version while making this bug report. The issue solves itself (my screen is no longer frozen) after I force turn off and on my switch but the fact it keeps happening every time without fail when I try to exit minecraft is worrying...
