I checked this in Creative mode.
The pointer is normally displayed at the current location on the map you possess from the beginning, but when you create a second or later map (or create from an empty map if you are creative), the pointer of the current location is not displayed.

The map on the left side of the image is the first map I had when I created the world, and the map on the right is the second map I created.
It is possible that all Bedrock versions have the same phenomenon.
As far as we've seen here, we've seen it on both the Windows and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.
Please check and fix this issue as soon as possible, as it has been occurring since before the latest version.

I think you are using normal maps in the second on thats why you are unable to get the pointer combine the map with a compass which will give you an empty locator map which shows the pointer
