Mobs not spawning on survival world on normal difficulty

Ive been playing on my world for some time and its always been on normal difficulty and had plenty of mobs spawning. All of a sudden the world is nearly empty of hostile mobs including phantoms even if we dont sleep for many nights. The only time a mob spawns is if i go near a monster spawner but no other mobs will spawn.

You may have reached the global mob cap of 200 mobs in simulation distance. This often happens with automatic chicken hatchers.

Wouldn't the chickens despawn eventually though?

If you go far away enough, aka 54 blocks.

Chickens hatched from eggs do not despawn, whether the eggs are thrown by the player or shot from a dispenser.

@Tomas Perez: could you please say whether you have an automatic chicken hatcher running, or whether you have a lot of other mobs, such as farm animals, gathered near your base?

This ticket will be resolved "awating response." It will reopen when you reply.

Hello, thank you for your responses. The issue has been resolved, it was the mob cap you mentioned. Had way too many sheep and chickens that even mobs in the nether wouldnt spawn if a friend was still in the overworld. But everythings back to normal so thank you all for your responses
