Campfires Re-lighting

This could be caused my lag or by picking up and replacing campfires. Please provide more information like a screenshot.

Campfires have been laid as a bridge and we’re placed before the 1.16 update. Lag I could understand, but after putting out the fire and then three days later find some randomly lit again leads me to believe it isn’t a lag issue. 

Did all of the might or only one or two? Also did you play with a friend at all?
