Uploading world with Texture pack to Realm, texture pack stops working

When applying a texture pack to a existing world and then uploading the world to the realm. When joining the realm the texture pack does not load and the default textures remain. In this case it is the Chroma Hills texture pack. I have tried to upload on both my PC copy and Xbox one copy of the game with the same results.

The world use to have the texture pack before 1.6 but there was an issue with it so I removed the texture pack until the update to it was released around the time 1.6.1 came out.

I have done a number of searches and did not find a reference to this issue. There is also a Reddit post on this issue where a couple other folks were having the same issue. https://www.reddit.com/r/MCPE/comments/9g4nvw/help_texture_pack_not_working_on_realms_xb1/e667vkw/?context=3

I do not have a screen shot of this issue due to the nature of the problem. If a world download is needed let me know the current world is 70MB.

There are a few things you can try to try and get the pack to upload to the Realm correctly - please take a back up of your worlds (including any Realm worlds) that you care about before doing the following.

  • Reset the Realm world save first, to clear any worlds and packs that might be applied

  • Apply the latest version of the resource pack to the single player save that you have

    • You might want to clear the cached packs first (Go to Settings→Storage, then Select each Resource pack and delete the cached data)

    • You can then download the latest version of the pack from the store

  • Make sure you apply the pack to your specific world

  • Now open your Realm settings and choose "Replace World" - and upload your world save with the pack applied.

If you could try those steps and see if it helps it would be appreciated, there is a known issue where the pack won't always upload if there is a pack applied already, so resetting the Realm might help.

Hey there Mega_Spud.

I believe I have done most of these steps but I have gone through them again just to be sure. My comments in red.

  • Reset the Realm world save first, to clear any worlds and packs that might be applied - Had not done before, I did it as part of this testing. (Side note the reset world spawn is different, I have an older seed I guess. lol )

  • Apply the latest version of the resource pack to the single player save that you have

    • You might want to clear the cached packs first (Go to Settings→Storage, then Select each Resource pack and delete the cached data) - Verified no cached packs, I did do this on the Xbox a while back and did not have on the windows 10 machine at all.

    • You can then download the latest version of the pack from the store - It was the most updated but I went ahead and deleted it and downloaded it again just to be sure.

  • Make sure you apply the pack to your specific world - Done, verified the pack in the local copy. Was done prior testing.

  • Now open your Realm settings and choose "Replace World" - and upload your world save with the pack applied.- Done, was done prior testing

I went through all the steps and when the realm loaded it was still default textures. I did all this on the Windows 10 copy of the world, but all steps were done before except the realm reset.

Here is the world file I am using if it helps 75MB https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ajo2_y6yNwiIhWhkE8aOO7M9BiOp

Also for testing, I made a brand new world, applied the texture pack (Chroma Hills) and replaced the realm with that one and got the default textures upon login.

Moved to the Realms section.

Thanks for trying out the suggested steps. It's possible the issue is only affecting your Realm or region, so could you also please contact Mojang Customer Support directly - please include your Realm name and gamertag in the message you send them.

I hope the Realms section pays attention. Problems with packs are usual in Realms, not unusual. Especially after updates.  I also have a question. Are the Resource file names in Settings, Storage identifiable by title, or by lengthy alphanumeric file names?

Were is the Settings, Storage folder located??? I do not see that in Settings, in Windows.

So, I need two answers: Were can I find Settings, Storage? How will I be able to identify the files?

Thanks Mega_Spud, I have sent the email. Appreciate the help.

Hi Annette, From the main window after logging in click on settings and on the left you should be able to see Storage. I attached an image to this ticket on what it should look like. If you had a cached files there would be an option called Cache or something there. This is also where you could delete worlds, resource packs, and templates (likely more to like behavior packs). The files should have the packs name, I have found it pretty straight forward. Hope that helps.

Oh, within Minecraft settings, not computer settings!

Settings, Storage in Minecraft. Thanks, yes, I found. I have not previously noticed that button!   On the right side, I see four buttons: Worlds, World Templates, Resource Packs, and Cached Data.

The Resource Packs listings are by name, for the overarching template.

The Cached Data does not make much sense. The names do not give a clue for what each listing is linked to.

The Cached Data button has a yellow exclamation point. What does that mean????

There are two small rows, each with a check box, in a square, at the upper right corner. Clicking on that produces a Delete button at the bottom. I don't know if it does anything else.

There is type-bar above the four buttons on the right. What is that for? I thought, perhaps to search, but that produced nonsense.

Mojang/Minecraft/Microsoft/Xbox need to incorporate pop-up explanations or links to explanations for these screens and buttons in Minecraft. Why is there a yellow exclamation point there???  What is the type-in bar for, if it produces only nonsense??? I may or may not directly contact Mojang. First, there is no direct contact with Mojang, only indirect. Second, the online form: I have completed and sent the form many times, for many issues. The response is consistent: their support is only for account issues. Even for account issues, it took about month of back and forth, repeated contacting and questions, to resolve issues with my two Java downloads, during the time of Better Together chaos. Otherwise, their advice is to report to the bug site! So there is an endless loop, and wasted time, for non-resolution.

I did find, in Windows Explorer file structures, c:\Users\name (omitted here)\AppData\Local\Packages]Microsoft.Minecraft_(alphanumerics omitted here\LocalCache\resource_pack-download_cache , and

Also, similar leading folders \LocalState\premium_cache folders.

Computer: Windows 10. If I keep digging, from the listings of OGG files, in the respective music folders, I can guess the name of the Minecraft Store item (World or Mash) from the music file names. But only for A FEW! For example, if the file names contain Norse, any Greek mythic name, Egyptian, Chinese, or pirate, then I can intuit the source World template.

For -8AHAMNFBAA= folder, the music file names have no recognizable wording to enable one to guess the overarching World.
