MCPE-144208 and MCPE-21416 are both marked resolved and this seems to be a similar, but different issue.

Players on my realm have regularly reported named confined entities disappearing. For example a named horse in a fully enclosed pen. A zombie horse named and placed in a fully enclosed stable with leather armor and a saddle on.

This happened when we were using minimal mod-packs (though we have since added more). I saw other issues, but they are all either marked resolved or do not relate to entities that are named. In more then one case the user was nearby when the entity vanished (once that I SAW happen it was a named Panda and we walked possibly four chunks away to get a nametag for the other panda and the named panda had disappeared, but the unnamed one remained.) I do not have the technical experience to understand why this happens, but named entities should disappear only under very rare circumstances. We have lost multiple animals this way as well as villagers. When using World Utilities to look at chunk borders I did notice it happened more when an enclosure was at the intersection of one or more chunks, but there is no way without add-ons to look at this so it cannot be expected for the average player to avoid chunk borders.

The promise of the name-tag item is that it preserves an entity. It has significantly impacted the enjoyment of the game (there were actual tears involved over the disappearance of a brown panda). I hope others can add to this issue with more technical details, but since I could only find ‘resolved’ and ‘fixed’ issues I decided to post this.

Environment

Crossplay PC, PS5 and Switch (maybe more entities disappeared when the Switch was connected/involved)
