I've uploaded a new crash report in vanilla, it took several hours to get, but eventually did crash. It seems to have crashed with an NPE at Container.countItem() when ItemStack.getItem().equals() was invoked. ItemStack.getItem() is of course, supposed to not be nullable. The only way this is possible is the object being modified on another thread. My assumption is is this is caused by setCount() being invoked on ItemStack.EMPTY but there's no way for me to be sure, it could potentially be some other ad hoc empty stack being synced through the integrated server.
On that note, I've realized there's a potential hard to quantify bug relating to this. ItemStack.getItem() is supposed to return AIR when count is zero, however, for stacks synced across the integrated network protocol it is hypothetically possible this same non-atomic bug could cause empty stacks return their original item. This seems unlikely to crash in most situations, but could definitely cause logic to malfunction. I don't think I can prove this with a log so I'll just leave it as a hypothetical issue related here.
Minecraft uses mostly canonical sorting for basically everything, it's how items are registered, it's how they show up in the creative inventory, and most tags use that sorting style. Alphabetical sorting is not very common in the game.
I have also had this issue and have found that Blackstone also crashes the game. I also noticed the issues as of beta 1.18.10.26. I don't know if blackstone crashes you as well but so far those are the only two I have noticed.
I bought a realm to play 1.18 with my friends. They could all play, but I kept receiving this error. I can join other servers fine, and none of the solutions above helped my realms issue.
I contacted support, and was told it's a connectivity issue on my end, so why am I able to join the realn perfectly fine with a different account, on the same PC, router, and installation?
I also have this issue I have discovered that it works as number of coal times 8-1. Inbother words 6 coal will smelt 47 items. 8 coal will smelt 63 items etc.
I would like to add that on the switch you also can’t connect to friends worlds, with the craftable furniture. Tried to join a friend just to try another way and it still crashed.
I have bought the resource pack today on my switch and it will not load and Crashes the game. I have done many suggestions before commenting including trying to join a friends game with this world. Edit: I saw the pack was removed, will it be fixed to work on the switch or dropped entirely?
This has been happening for a few days. I play on an android phone. Everytime I try to play on minecraft it goes to the loading screen and stops loading and my screen turns black. Then it goes back to my home screen. I really wish this problem would be fixed. I have reinstalled minecraft about 10 times and I have clear the cache and data about 20 times.
I’m having the same problem. Minecraft says that it must be that our skins must not be a valid skin, but I’ve been using the skin my whole life, and now for some reason it doesn’t work.
Solved! The soft mute button was on, it looks like a bell in the drop down menu on an ipad where you can put it into flight mode and other options like brightness etc.
The headphone sound works not sure why that does and the speakers don't. So I plugged in a small wifi speaker and that seems to do the trick for now but it's not ideal...
My sisters and I have had this problem ever since I got Minecraft two weeks ago. I am playing Windows 10, they are playing on their Apple tablets (ios). We all play on the same and latest version, 1.14. Highly annoying!

The villagers do the same in my world and yeah mobs will freeze too!
You are totally fine. It’s my first time posting a bug too!
Oh no hopefully they fix this soon!
It only flashes when it turns my screen black and then flashes when it takes me to my home screen
