Summary
Nearly all the time while playing on a Realm, it is lagging. This is very noticeable and becomes more noticeable when there are more players in the Realm.
These are the issues with Realms that happen basically all the time unless you're the only one on, but even sometimes when you're the only one online, it can still lag:
When breaking blocks, the block particles and the item form of the block that appear are delayed by 1 second. When there are more players, this is worse.
The cracking animation when breaking blocks often is not visible when you're using a tool that can break blocks quickly.
Opening interactable things are delayed and can get more delayed as more players join.
Sometimes when placing blocks, the block will unplace itself and replace itself for a split second.
This is not an issue on my end as other people on the Realm experience this and I often see this same lag when watching streamers play on their Realms.
These Realm issues have been here ever since I started looking at Realms, which is at least over a year ago. These issues have not improved at all and make the experience when playing on Realms not as enjoyable. Realms often feel like low quality servers, which should not be the case.
With the 1.12.0 update, Realm performance has gotten noticeably worse and two new issues have arisen:
When instant-mining blocks, very often a lot of the blocks will now re-appear, requiring you to mine it again. This makes your tool lose durability faster and slows down the process of digging.
When stripping logs, the log will often revert back to its unstripped state, requiring you to strip it again and wasting durability.

We have experienced all these as well. With 2 or more players usually. But once or twice with just one player on.

Hello from Germany,
I have similar issues on my minecraft realm. Even when Playing solo. It takes between 3-5 Seconds for a block to actually be destroyed as Long as i Play online.
i also have allready tried different Connections (eg via mobile tethering) and still have the same issues.

Here in Brazil I´m having the same issue. I´m also experiencing all 4 lag issues listed on the description but also one more: when writing on signs the text have a 0.5 second delay to show up on the placed sign (even tho on the sign UI it shows instantly like the normal game).

Similar lag on my Realm, playing from Belgium.
Lag started a couple of hours before the current hotfix (v1.16.1).
Not only when playing with two or more players and not local since everybody experiences it, even when playing alone on the realm.

We've just started our subscription and if this is how the performance is going to be we'll likely change to a third-party server. The game is unplayable at times, even for a single player, while at other times it seems to perform reasonably well. At worst, you can't do anything for the constant Java errors about the remote side forcing a disconnect and all changes reverting constantly, until you get booted that is. we've tried playing on 5 different ISPs at all times of the day and on 4 different computers - no change in the performance. They either are not assigning enough resources to the virtual servers or not enough bandwidth. Either way, not a good first time experience.

After all these months still no fix? All they fix was map frame lag. Yet it's gotten worse every update. Now it lags before 1gb. Why? Im just not happy with realms. Infact, im angry at mojang for fixing this. This bug report was around over a year) not found. And no major fix? As i said ever update it's getting worse. Whats next? Lag everytime you reset a realm) not found.?!

Also experiencing lag and disconnect issues. When a disconnect happens, the progress made for, give or take, 5 - 10 minutes is also lost. This is an issue that should be get priority number one! You guys offer realms, servers for people to play on, and you should be able to keep those servers up and running for your own game. At least give notice to this issue or shut the servers down for a day so you could fix this.

Well Well... We are at the point of completely losing it with Realms. We are a total of 7 players. Al working separate hours. We are never more than 5 people online at once. We try to be lag friendly in our realms, we have dedicated industrial areas, and we don't use them, we only AFK there in intervals when there is no players online and only use it one player at a time. We are currently not even able to connect to the realms, ever since the 1.16 update, we have had connection issues, SERIOUS lags. I personally have lost all my gear about 4 times now, due to flying with my elytra, then my world does not render, and then boom, my inventory shoots out, and I get the notification of dying, then I get thrown back to my last reset point, but with this AWFUL lag, by the time you get back to where you died, everything has despawned. When we get disconnected we get a roll back with anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes, this happened once, just when I got my Elytra in the end, I was still flying then all of a sudden, disconnect, when we eventually could get in, I was at the bottom of the temple getting shot at by al the shulkers in the bottom of the temple. It has gotten to the point, that we are playing in private worlds, just to still enjoy some of the game, but noooowww, we can't even connect to the realm, internet is working 100%, system requirements are on point, and all we are getting back from the realm is . Unable to connect to world, please check your internet connection and try again... I mean really... And we 4 players who tested this in different parts of the country with different service providers, and still to NO avail. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Realms are already a substandard experience with simulation distance locked at 4 chunks. This is a paid service, we should be getting a better experience than people who don't pay not a worse one. Both harvesting and placing blocks has to be redone again and again. The lag is unforgivably bad. I don't want to cancel service if I don't have to. But this is terrible and has been for far too long. Please make this right. My family all enjoy Minecraft, please help us enjoy the Realms service.
