[REALMS-2168] Minecraft Bedrock Realm download message "A newer version of the game has saved this level. It cannot be loaded"

I have been trying to fix the texture pack in my friends and I's realm but whenever I download the backup worlds on my computer and on xbox, it comes up with the message, "A newer version of the game has saved this level. It cannot be loaded. Unable to connect to world."

Realm saves are 12.1.1 and game is 12.1.0

Need to patch the game to 12.1.1 or tell me how to adjust a save file to 12.1.0

The problem is that it is in a newer version. Backups shows there was an update. 1.12.0 to 1.12.1. so its kinda like where in beta and cant opt out. {NO FIX}

Having the same problem exact problem. I download the realm world, and can't join. Wouldn't be much of a problem, except we would like to change the texture pack of the world. Tried replacing the downloaded world's texture pack and then putting it into the realm, however it keeps the same texture pack. I've got no idea why this is happening, I don't really care about going into the downloaded realm. I simply want to change the resource pack, although I believe these two problems are somehow intertwined.

Same issue. Wanted to put an offline copy of the realm world on another PC, can't load it due to version discrepancy, no apparent means of resolving.

I'm having the same issue. I spent an hour or so trying to fix it thinking it was a corrupted game save. (Thought the message was incorrect as they often are.) At least now I know it's not my game file.

I’m also having the same problem I downloaded the realms world on the same device I always play on iPad and it won’t load, same message as others have said. Please fix this soon.

Same on two of my Windows 10 devices. I found a fix though.

Create a new world.
Download your world from the Realm.
Get a program that can edit NBT files.
Open the downloaded Realm in the NBT editor program that you downloaded.
Find the world settings.
Then find the MinimumRequiredClientVersion folder.
It will be 12.1.1.1
Change it to 12.0.28.1.
Save your world.
Open Minecraft (for Windows 10)
Load the world up.
It should work. I have been playing on my downloaded Realm for a few days and have not found any problems. I think Microsoft may have released a bug-fix update for Realms earlier than for the game itself.
This only works on Windows 10, as far as I am aware.

Toby Foster's solution works! I used MCC Tool Chest PE (program for windows 10) and changed it to 1.12.0.28.1, and I was able to then replace the texture pack, load up the world, and then replace the realm with that world. Thanks so much Toby 👍

I'm also having this issue. I uploaded the world from my Switch and get this error when I try to launch a downloaded copy on Android, Windows 10,and Xbox One.

The 12.1.1 hotfix has rolled out to Bedrock platforms as of 9/3 and any copied/downloaded worlds should once again work normally. Yay!
