REALMS-2210

Realm kicks all users, rolls back variously. Undetermined cause.

Issue

Over the past month or so- in fact since around the time 1.12.0 released for Bedrock Editions- our realm members have experienced frequent (several times a day) server-wide kicks and forced rollbacks (the world reverts to a less-developed save) so that all members online are forced to restart anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour (and sometimes more) of work and building on account of them.

This issue has persisted into version 1.12.1 for Bedrock.

Realm Info

Players: 180+

World size: 3.9GB

World type / Gamemode: Infinite / Normal Survival

World origin: September 2017 (Better Together Update)

Suggested Causes

One of our operators has suggested a certain location on the server may be causing the server strain responsible for these crashes- namely an island surrounded by coral and deep Update Aquatic ocean, which also holds lots of packed entity data on account of large duplicated storage.

Other than this, we simply aren't sure. We have several players on when these crashes happened and so haven't nailed precisely what event may be triggering this.

This is a huge and incredibly annoying bug. I have been a 10 person realm owner for over half a year now, and this bug has been plaguing us in the past couple months.

General Realm Info:
This is a 10 person Realm

It was started march of this year

It has 23 members

There are alot of saves

The world size is ~450Mb

When and How does this happen?

Every couple hours, the realm will suddenly crash, causing issues for those in game as stated in origional post. However this crashing usualy takes place when someone joins the realm but only sometimes. When this happens, the screen (This may take a few moments) usualy is stuck and this can last for a long time. After a while the realm goes back "online" and players are able to join again, however the realm while be set from the last backup from the backup menu.

Why this is even worse
This issue is especialy bad, becasue the realm is mildly old, and large, which means it is maxed out on number of backups. This causes issues as the realm has to delete old world saves to create new ones (A feture not avalible to do manualy) so everytime the world backs up it has to delete an old one. Therefor the Realm trys to avoid this by only backing up every hour to 2 hours. This makes the issues VERY VERY BAD as every coulple hours an hour or 2 of progress is lost making the Realm unplayable and unable to make progress.

This issue needs to be solved as it is detremental to anyone effected and causes are unknown. Solutions could include manual realm backuping and built in chunck resetting (for unneeded areas) and old save deleting option. Please upvote this to raise awareness, and comment if you have a similar issue.

If mojang chooses to ingnore this huge issue that they are only making there potentialy exelent cross platform playing experiacne completly miseralbe and usless.

My bedrock realm is experiencing a similar issue.  About 30 minutes ago, my players were unable to log into the realm.  When they were able to join a few minutes later, the world had been rolled back 1 hour, which is when the last autosave was.

Realm Info:
-10 person realm

-Opened Sept. 13, 2019

-73 members

-World size: ~1GB (infinite, hard mode)

-The name of my realm is SlowNerd Bedrock Paradise, and my Xbox gamertag is Miney01.

Now happens pretty much all the time in version 1.13. Duplicate of REALMS-2393

1.13 came and this has caused so many headaches.  I understand some behind fixes were made, but this past week it has made the realm unplayable.  We went almost 8 hours without a backup, which is ridiculous when trying to ensure the world is saving. so not to keep losing progress

This is happening about 2-3 times per day on a small – not super crowded realm – not a lot of heavy or complicated redstone contraptions yet.   It's a baby realm but still incredibly frustrating to get people to want to build or play on it when their work gets rolled back considerably too often.

I don't know why this is labeled as resolved because it isn't
