I have a realm in which I would like to use a custom dimension for creative purposes. I made some builds in another world and transferred it over to the new dimension. Opening the world in singleplayer and going to the custom dimension shows that this transfer was successful (I copied the region and other data from the first world into the folder for the custom dimension). However, upon uploading the world to my realm, any changes in the overworld are preserved, yet the custom dimensions are completely reset.
In the realms-upload.log file (which is attached) from the realm backup, it reads:
Removed world/dimensions/minecraft/custom_dimension/region/r.0.0.mca: not used
It reads this for all the regions of the custom dimension I'm trying to upload.

Update; I contacted Mojang support about this and this was the response I recieved;
"I'm sorry, but we are unable to offer support for mods or modded Minecraft games. Mods are software that changes the way that Minecraft runs and are not created by Mojang. Because of this, it is not possible for us to know what is happening with the game when a mod is loaded."
Since this feature is in vanilla, I was pretty upset at the condescending AND misinformed nature of this response. If it reflects on Mojang at all, then I wouldn't expect this issue to be worked on, ever.
That is unfortunate. Also, as custom dimensions are a experimental feature, it probably isn't on the top of their list of things to fix.
Additionally, I suspect that what is happening is that the world is optimized upon upload, and it doesn't recognize the custom dimensions as being needed. I may do some further research in the near future, and think it may be possible to work around this, though I can't say for sure
Don't worry, support got back to me, here is their response when I said that the game was in vanilla, no mods;
"Unfortunately, all Minecraft worlds are stored locally, and are not attached in any way to your account. Mojang does not store any information regarding individual worlds, meaning that the world only exists locally on your computer or device. We are unable to recover your Minecraft world."
I would be laughing if this wasn't so frustrating.

Same issue, no idea why it isn't working, the files work perfectly in single-player but when uploaded to realms, anything built in a custom dimension is gone.
