Realms Repeatedly Resets Progress

I play on a friends realm frequently and ever since the new update we've been noticing that the realm keeps resetting progress at random and in random intervals. From hours or minutes to not at all. This has mostly occurred when only one of us was online but recently it has occurred with three people on at once. The game doesn't crash and we log off normally using the Disconnect button. It seems like every other time we open the game and play for a bit we lose everything done in the hour to two we're online, inventories are reset, character positions are reset, blocks are returned back if they were mined, it seems to reload from a random backup hours earlier when it should have a back up much recently. The server is vanilla, there's no data packs or anything so it seems to be on the game's side of things.
