My friends and I are having the same issue. Every 6 min the realm crashes and pushes us back to whatever had happened 6 min ago.

migrated

Currently realms are very unstable and unusable, try again in 24 hrs.

migrated

While I understand Realms are busy - can replicate so posting here.

migrated

I have the same problem and I was able to replicate as well so here I am

[MOD] Greymagic27

Can anyone reproduce this in 1.16.1?

migrated

@Greymagic27

I was having this issue all yesterday too after updating to 1.16, but as of 1.16.1 I can no longer connect at all

migrated

Had this issue with 1.16 as described in my comment on one of the reports combined into this one.  Then, with 1.16.1, I did the following this evening:

  • joined Realm from my last spot in 1.15.

  • Moved around, did some inventory changes, ate some food.

  • Disconnected, closed software on my computer, and stayed off for about 15-30 minutes.

  • Joined realm, and was where i left off.  good news.  Did the same, went to a castle nearby, repaired some enchanted gold armor on an anvil, swapped out armor, inventory changes, etc.

  • Disconnected, closed software on my computer, and stayed off for about an hour.

  • Joined realm, and was back where I was after the 15-30 minute break.

[MOD] Greymagic27

This is also known to occur after closing the game

migrated

I have this bug on 1.16.1 where the progress is rolled back 5 minutes every time I save

migrated

I have had this happen two separate times now. I have played three times since yesterday morning and every time I log on, my inventory and advancement progress are where they were at the beginning of the first play session. Everything I had done in the first two play sessions has been wiped out, reverting back to the old save. Interestingly enough, one other person on my Realm is reporting that this is happening to them, while another says they have not had this issue yet.

migrated

We've also been experiencing this issue! The reset happens sometime between when we log out and log back in. I've noticed it happening for several versions now, but it's gotten much worse in 1.16.1: the resets are now happening several times a day and reset hours of progress at a time. We found that coordinating with everyone on the realm to log out every 30 minutes and stay offline for 8 minutes effectively forces the world to save, but that's still very inconvenient.

migrated

Same issue here, if I get off and than get on the next day, I usually lose like 2 hours of progress :/

migrated

Yes, loss of progress has happened twice so far since the 1.16 update (losing hours of progress).  I'm hosting a Realm for many and it's basically unusable now.

migrated

Thanks to the mods for sending me here 😃. I haven't experienced the issue as bad as some of the other commenters, but in my realm I seem to be losing 5-10 minutes of progress each time everyone leaves. I did have one interesting case of this where I left for a few minutes without closing out the game, just leaving the server. I chatted that I was leaving before I did so when I returned a few minutes had been lost, but the chat still showed the same thing. But I have been losing progress each time. I'm a bit happy I wasn't the only one experiencing this issue, though.

migrated

My realm is also having this issue. Have never been kicked off the realm but after everyone logs off the realm is reverted back to a previous save and anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours of progress is lost.  All the players seem to reset back to the same point even if not everyone was online at that time.

migrated

My friends realm is also having this issue. I had built a map art for my friend, and built a platform to draw on. My friend and I were building, and both got off to take a break once we finished. When we returned, the platform was backlogged to when we first started, meaning we'd have to spend another 4 hours rebuilding the platform. This has been occurring since 1.16, and I'm really afraid to make any form of progress, in fear of it being backlogged. I've never experienced the server force closing, though, and it has always been after nobody was on the server.

migrated

Just had this issue overnight and my realm lost about 7 hours of progress. Happened after everyone got off for the night, but resumed backups every 10 minutes this morning.

migrated

Yesterday, I logged out, logged in to check, everything was there.  Today, hours are lost.  This also affect Ubuntu Linux.  This is getting to be a great big waste of time that costs money.  Apparently others were also logged in and nothing stuck fore them either.

migrated

My friends and I on our Realm are not being kicked out, but we are losing progress each time we log out. Anywhere from 10mins to an hour.  It appears that instead of it remembering when we logged out, it reverts to the last auto-backup.  And the backup is happening randomly. Used to be 30 mins, but now it's 30, 45, 60 minutes. So since we don't know when the backup will be, we don't know when is best to log out.  So unfortunately we are all stopping playing until this is fixed. We're tired of rebuilding, re-exploring, and resorting things in our chests over and over again. So hopefully this is fixed soon.

migrated

What Shane Sanders above describes is the same issuing occurring on my Realm. Several people have played for over an hour or two, logged out normally (no crash, not getting kicked), and when they log back on next play session, everything they've done has not been saved, as if their previous play session never occurred. Anecdotally, this seems to be more likely when only one person is on, though on at least one occasion, another player logged on, did some stuff, logged out, and logged in later to find all her progress nonexistent, while I was online the whole time and unaffected.

migrated

It also happens even wihout the game crashing.

migrated

My experience when playing on my friend's realm is that the game won't crash. It appears to play normally, but when I log off and come back several hours later, it will have lost hours of progress. I will immediately know when it has happened because it will spawn me in different place in the world than from where I logged out.  This has happened to me 3 times in the last 4 days and never happened once before 1.16. Several of the other members of the realm have also had it happen to them. It is frustrating to lose hours worth of work.

migrated

Still in effect in 1.16.1

migrated

Still having this problem in 1.16.1. Lost hours of progress due to several resets.

migrated

The issue also affecting me even without crashes. It occurs with multiple people and while solo, and it doesn't mater if the game has been entered and exited via the disconnect button or otherwise. It also seems to revert even after I disconnected once and reconnected immediately afterwards to double check of progress remained and thought it did. Basically I logged off, logged back in immediately, saw I was where I logged out at and logged out again for a few hours. When I logged back in the server revered to a couple hours earlier when I was AFK spinning an item in a frame for a couple hours to kill time for another autosave. Still lost about 10 minutes of progress (probably more depending on when the autosave occurred while spinning the item) to the revert.

migrated

I am also experiencing this issue, without crashes. I have encountered this every day for the past several days, and the issue seems to assert itself at 9pm U.S. Central. I'm just guessing based on what I have observed, but it appears to erase all of my progress between 8pm and 9pm. I have not experienced the issue during any other part of the day and I play regularly between 2pm and 2am central.

migrated

I too have the same problem where hours of build are gone. I respawn back in the same space where I was when I started the build the previous day each time. This has happened the past week and a half now. I have tried creating one small thing, disconnect from the Realm, and reconnect. The build is there and appears to "save". I have also repeated that and quit the game to re-launch and it appears to "save". But if I "quit" for the night and come back the next day it is all gone.

migrated

I just started experiencing this today. I've left and rejoined twice, only to find 30 min-hours of progress completely gone/rolled back.

migrated

This has been happening to me for the past week and a half, and the realm will delete up to 3 hours of progress. The first few times this happened I tried re-building what hadn't been saved but now it's reverting so much progress that I don't want to deal with it.

migrated

Someone on Reddit mentioned having everyone Change Dimensions before logging off allows the dimension to unload and save, As a workaround

migrated

@Samuel Bignell, Unfortunately I can confirm that workaround does not work. The last time I lost progress due to this bug, I was building a gold farm in the nether. I was periodically going back and forth between the nether and the overworld. I was the only player on the server that evening. I logged off in the overworld and when I checked the next morning all of my progress in the nether was lost.

migrated

Multiple users on my Realm have experienced the lose of 30m to an hour of playtime after logging out and returning immediately or hours later.

@Samuel Bignell - I also confirm the work around did not work for me, twice I'd left gone through the Nether during the lost time, once I loaded before I'd went into the Nether, and the 2nd I logged in and found myself in the Nether, even though I'd come out and spent an hour exploring and doing treasure maps.

migrated

@Aaron Graham @Dianne Ah sorry to hear, Thought that might of been a good workaround

migrated

We are having a similar issue in our realm, ours doesn’t crash but when you log out after playing, the next time you log in, the realm didn’t save 30min to hours worth or progress. Happened four times now.

migrated

We're having this issue too. Once everyone logs off the server it sometimes undoes hours of our work by the next time we log on. When I look at the backups list in the realm settings it seems to sometimes do a backup every 30 minutes or so, but when we experience resets we can see that backups weren't being created regularly while we were playing.

We've been experiencing issues for about 6 days now. If a fix cannot be pushed soon we will request a refund.

migrated

At this point its getting ridiculous it keeps happening and basically makes it unplayable.  why pay for something and make it impossible for people to play. Is it because people had to reset their nether for the new Nether?

migrated

Commenting again since it's been about two weeks now since the update and we haven't been able to play at all. To confirm, we loaded the nether in our realm for the first time after update 1.16, and that is when the problems with loss of progress began. Loss of progress is not limited to progress in the nether itself.

I'd really like to be able to play minecraft again, and as this issue is so widespread, it is odd to me that it's still an issue after two weeks. Will we be refunded if this persists?

migrated

Also commenting again, because the service we've all been paying for is literally unplayable. Normally, to fix a bug I'd expect it to take a while, but not when it is literally game breaking, causing tons of people to lose hours of progress, and forcing people to stop playing. I had hoped that it wouldn't take more than a week, but the fact that it has been over two weeks and nothing has been done is astonishing.

migrated

After six days, I can confirm that in my experience Realms is literally unplayable. I can't see this being a bug relating to the nether resetting, as we only bought the realm in 1.16. We've switched to a third party host recommended by an AdminCraft discussion and so far we've had no issues whatsoever. If possible, I would request a refund because this is an unusable service.

migrated

Commenting again, as this bug has persisted for 2 weeks, making the Realm/game unplayable (across Macs and PCs).  I only had the game crash once, soon after the update, but the resetting of progress has been consistent and significant.  Between myself and others on my Realm, we've lost many hours over the past couple weeks.  It's pointless to play anymore and my annual subscription is up for renewal.  This bug makes it difficult to justify the renewal cost.  It would be great to get confirmation that this bug is assigned and prioritized.

migrated

This is an unacceptable bug. Nobody wants to pay for a service that doesn't work.

migrated

Frustrating to still be paying with no acknowledgment from Mojang of the issue and confirmation of a fix in the works. The first three weeks after an update is an upsetting time to not be able to play without progress deleting itself.

migrated

I've been having a similar issue since 1.16 came out, I've found that switching the realm's selected world and then switching back (which automatically backs up the realm) usually works to auto-save, but you need to do it right after logging out. So far this method has only failed once out of about ten times. Hope this helps while we wait for it to be fixed by Mojang.

migrated

Same has happened to me, except I also lost items from my inventory and ender chest! 3rd time it happens to me btw.

migrated

I've also been having this issue, but without the server crashes. Rather, after playing on the server for some amount of time and leaving, when I join the server again, some, if not all, of my progress is lost.

A temporary workaround which has been working for me is simply to rejoin the server immediately after leaving, wait a couple seconds, then leave the server again, this time for real. Every time I've done this, the server has retained all my progress. Obviously, your mileage may vary,

migrated

I am working on an iron farm. I did a couple hours work yesterday (I'm really slow). I exited the world normally with no crashes or anything and I log in today and all that progress is gone. This is extraordinarily frustrating. I tried to reload from a recent backup and it said "backup not found" I will be moving my world to a server that doesn't do this to me. 😞

migrated

My friend and I are also suffering this issue, no crashes or disconnected, but when we come in the next day all of the progress is gone. My friend is the one paying for the Realm and he said he's not going to resubscribe if it's not fixed by the time it's time for him to renew.

migrated

My realm is rolling back for all users. Hours of progress are lost seemingly at random. Some days happening more than others. As the logging of the realm members is pretty inconsistent, it's hard to pinpoint exactly the frequency, but it has been happening a lot. Just lost 1 to 2 hours of progress in the nether, made during my last play session.

migrated

Since 1.16 and even with 1.16.1 my realm has frequently lost progress. The time loss can be anywhere from 10 minutes to hours. This is an extremely frustrating and unacceptable  problem. I will be leaving Realms if this issue is not resolved.

I bought a realm after the 1.16 and 1.16.1 came out and ever since a couple days ago it's been really laggy, and after hours of spending time on it, it won't save any of the work I've done and send me back to where I was before I'd done all that work. It's really frustrating because I'm the only one actually experiencing problems, and the others aren't. Also the realm tends to crash quite frequently and it has nothing to do with my wifi.

migrated

I originally had this problem with a world that was created under 1.15.  Out of desperation we abandoned that world and created a new world under 1.16.1.  Since doing this the folks on my realm server have not experienced a problem despite going into the nether and exiting a variety of ways from the game.  The world is just 2 weeks old with no problems yet.  We are still monitoring the situation and are still gun shy about doing too much without exiting and making sure a save has occurred.  Has anyone experienced this problem with a world created with 1.16.1 or just with older worlds.

Note: Our new world is no where close to the size of the one we decided to abandon.  We may see problems as we continue to expand generating more chunks that need to be saved to the world file.  Who knows.

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

This should now be resolved with a server side fix that went out last week.

migrated

Nope. Not fixed. My users are reporting the same problem on our realm. One of them spent two hours working on a project last night, only to wake up this morning to find the world reverted.

VERY frustrating. It has gotten so bad I am looking for new server host.

migrated

Not fixed, this issue started happening for our family about 5 days ago.  4 of us playing on a Realm.  Game works fine if you download it to a device.  Ongoing disconnects (and resets to an old save) if you play on Realms.

migrated

Same here, it happened last week, we renew it and use the back up to fix, works that time. But it happen again today, can’t fix it this time.

migrated

I'm experiencing this exact same issue on Bedrock.
