I created a nether portal, in the nether, and lit it using a flint and steel; however, when I step into it, it doesnt teleport me. The teleportation animation doesn't start either. It doesnt matter how long i stand in it it wont teleport me. I've even tried moving the portal and/or breaking it and re building it and it still wont let me use it.
UPDATE: I am stuck in the nether... i have 4 pre existing nether portals and none will work for me.. i am stuck PLEASE HELP
It is a Realm that i pay for idk if that helps.
UPDATE: my friend can enter and exit the nether just fine so its just me.. and yes i've tried closing minecraft entirely and opening it up again and still its not working
RESPONSE: I am not riding or transporting any mobs i am alone, i am not in sneak mode. I downloaded a local copy of the realm and had the same issue. I can stand in the nether portal for an indefinite amount of time and no animation happens at all for transport. I had minecraft and realm closed overnight on my pc and just logged in to try again. Same issue, not resolved. Stuck in nether.

I just killed myself in game. I respawned in the overworld at my set respawn location and it is now working fine. The issue is resolved but i lost 30 levels. Hope you guys are aware that this bug did indeed happen though and I will re open if it happens again.
Could you tell us the device you are playing on? Also, were there any other weird things happening like blocks not rendering properly, or being able to walk through blocks?
When your friend was able to exit the nether were they using the portal that was not working for you, or was it a different portal?
Do you still have the downloaded copy of the world where you were able to reproduce the problem?
If so, can you upload that to a file-sharing service and share the link? Or, if it is under 10MB you can just attach here.
Unfortunately, I don't have the downloaded copy of the world :c. I'm playing on a PC; intel i5 8400, DDR4 8G, GTX1050 2GB. The only other weird thing that happened was some Hoglins spawned on half slabs which i didn't think was possible. This happened twice right in front of me. The friend playing with me was able to use all nether portals and I tried 4 different ones to no avail (all the same ones he did). Unfortunately, I haven't so far been able to reproduce the problem so just a weird bug at the time.
Are you riding a mob, or attempting to bring another mob with you? If so, you will need to dismount / release the other mob to use the portal.
Are you in "sneak" mode?
When you signed out and back in, did you wait a bit, to allow the realm to recognize that you had disconnected?
Otherwise, does the same issue happen on a local copy of the world?
Does it work after closing and reopening the realm?
