Supper laggy and when ever you try to break a block is doesnt show thats its breaking it just breaks and everything super slow and it delayed like crazy

I'm having the same problem! And, it's accompanied by a lot of other problems too.  Like I try to open chests and try to open the crafting table menu and it takes a long time to open and while it's opening all the monsters and animals and villagers freeze in place and don't move.  Then when I try to make some progress in the game I save and quit and it doesn't save my progress. This has been happening for a couple of days.  I've tried restarting my computer.  Doing Minecraft updates (there were none) and computer updates to no avail. Is there a way to fix this?
