error for online multiplayer through xbox live due to privacy settings

My son all of the sudden can't join his brother's realm - despite NO change to any Microsoft or xbox live privacy settings. The error code says "error - You cannot play online multiplayer through Xbox Live because of how your account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy & online safety settings on xbox.com". Again, he was joining the realm without issue and then one day something changed and he can't join the realm or accept the invitation. His settings were never changed - and when I went into his xbox live account, everything is in order to allow him to play. I've called Microsoft and Xbox Live twice and sat on the phone 90+ minutes each time trying to resolve this issue without any luck.

I have exactly the same issues on the XBOX One S - both my account with unrestricted and my sons account with an unrestricted child profile cannot join Multiplayer games anymore.

It seems my some did an automatic game update earlier tonight and it broke after this (v1.2.1.3 currently)

I have tried;

  • removing and reinstalling Minecraft

  • removing our profiles and re adding

My 7yr old is in meltdown after playing multiplayer on his Minecraft Edition Xbox One S with me on my Win 10 PC where our World is hosted for the last few months and he can no longer get to it.

I see others are having the same issue and assume there are some pretty upset kids out there...

Would be good to bump the priority on this one if possible...

Cheers,

Also adjusted my xbox live settings as suggested by Mega_Spud but this did not work either....

Can this issues be re opened to track or do you need a new one opening ?

Jason - Iโ€™m so sorry your son is having this issue, but Iโ€™m so happy Iโ€™m not the only one. Mojang said this was resolved but it is NOT. I have tried everything except deleting my sonโ€™s Microsoft email address and account (tied to his xbox live account) - and that is what Iโ€™m trying now - just trying to redo everything because I canโ€™t figure out a fix and apparently the app developers arenโ€™t listening or havenโ€™t figured it out either. Very frustrating!

Hey Brooke - sorry to hear you are still trying things... I have just tweeted @mojangsupport a picture of your screen shot and referred to this resolved bug report asking them to review the comments and reopen.
It seems we had the issue since the v1.2.1.3 update was downloaded... would be nice to have the ability to roll back to the previous version at least where it work!
I am watching this Bug now and the @mojangsupport twitter feeds for responses in hope.

I have just installed on a second Windows 10 PC and signed both into xbox live - they can play in multiplayer mode...
It seems the xbox version is kaput :o(
In the meantime, @Mojang - any chance of a second free Windows 10 edition code for my account so we can lay until the xbox version issue is fixed ?

Have you tried contacting Xbox Live Customer Support directly? They have the capability to help make sure your online game settings are set up to allow online multiplayer.

Could you also double check that your game version is the same (could it be possible that one device is enrolled in the beta? If so, that might the issue preventing you from connecting to another's world.)

Both Brooke and myself have spoken with XB live support and confirmed our online settings were correct...
Both mine (totally unrestricted) and my sons XB live accounts will not let the XB version of Minecraft play multiplayer but when we sign into XB live on our Windows 10 PCs everything is fine... this seems to back up the theory that the XB version of code has an issue.
I have purchased a second license for Win10 (great value at ยฃ2.21 on MMOGA!) with my sons laptop paired up with the XB console controller to play the game - the XB console (the Limited Edition Minecraft version funny enough) is now sitting redundant when it comes to Minecraft but works Ok for other titles.
Why do these bug reports keep being closed off without the bugs being confirmed as fixed/resolved - kind of defeats the object of the bug reporting system?Cheers, Jason

I am experiencing the same problem, and every time I think I have a solution I get stonewalled by Microsoft or Mojang. None of there help lines or help q and a's have helped at all.

I starting to wonder if they even read these bug reports, or if they just don't care. Either way, joining a realm is free, or so they say, and if they refuse to do any thing to fix this VERY glaring error, then they are lying to our faces.

Any comment Mojang?

(This is on Xbox One btw)
