Chat causing subtle freezing after no activity in chat

When writing a message in chat after no activity for a while

What I expected to happen was...:
message goes through with no freezing

What actually happened was...:
Game freezes for around half a second

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Wait for no activity in chat for around 5-6 minutes
2. Send message
3. Observe game freezing

Seeing this on our SMP server. Very quick lag spike when someone sends a long message or a message after being AFK for a while.

Also see the same. This is the same as MC-218167 which was fixed but this issue cropped up again since yesterday night GMT

This happens to anyone with a migrated account to Microsoft no matter if they sent a message or not. Also happens to everyone at the same time(with Microsoft migrated accounts). I can confirm it does not happen to people who have not yet migrated

This occurs frequently enough that we can be certain it only started occuring within the past day. The servers performance does not decrease indicating it is 100% not a server issue. Seeing as it only just started occuring, I don't suspect it's directly related to the 1.18.1 client but a remote service, however I could be wrong about this.

The client will essentially lock up for about a second on an occasional chat message (seems when chat has been idle for a moment or is a long message).

I was unable to reproduce this behavior in 1.18.1. I attempted to recreate this in a singleplayer, multiplayer, and LAN world but was unsuccessful in all of my attempts across these environments. Could you provide some screenshots of this problem occurring whilst the ALT+F3 graph is enabled?

EDIT: Scratch that, I was able to reproduce this issue. It happened very inconsistently for me but was able to recreate this on occasion. I've attached a screenshot demonstrating this behavior occurring on a vanilla 1.18.1 server.

Here is a video. I'll have more shortly from other users. Vanilla 1.18.1 and vanilla client. Go to 0:20 https://youtu.be/FuRv9PhtkAo

No I'm saying that the issue FeAr is encountering might be MC-218167 because they are playing in 1.17.1

@mtmjnb
that issue matches up with above code analysis, besides my issue matches perfectly with descriptions above

@Johnibur
why would I make a ticket?

will it be fixed for 1.17.1 or do I have to manually patch this function call entirely, because I cannot play 1.18, the chunks on it load very slowly making the game unplayable

Unfortunately, if you are on 1.17 or 1.16, you will still be experiencing MC-218167 (one-time stuttering). You will need to update to the latest game version in order to get this issue fixed. If you appear to still have the one-time stuttering chat issue in 1.18, please make a new ticket in MC project.

However, if you used to have multiple stuttering issues (this ticket) that appeared recently, you should now see improvements whether you are running 1.16, 1.17 or 1.18.

Has anyone else encountered this issue starting to occur again in the last 24 hours?

I can confirm this issue re-appears in last 24 hours and glitching the game again.
