Profanity filter won't switch off

Hello I have tried to switch off the profanity filter on my account and it won't let me. It just stays greyed out. I have tried contacting minecraft support and microsoft support and they have advised I raise this as a bug as they have both tried to help me and no solution has been found. My account is an adult account and my settings are all correct so I am unsure as to why I can't switch the profanity filter off.

I'm assuming you're on Realms?
Also you say it is "grayed out": What exactly is grayed out and where? Screenshots would be helpful.

I have attached a screenshot of what I mean - when I turn it off it just stays greyed out instead of turning off meaning I myself am unable to turn it off for some reason and it is not because I have a child account or due to my settings - microsoft and minecraft support have already checked.

Hi there!

Does this issue still occur?

On what browser does the issue occur?

Have you tried other browsers?

Yes the issue is still occuring I use the minecraft launcher during game play and I've tried using both microsoft edge and google chrome and Samsung browser to login into my minecraft account to change settings

Hi there,

I am also having this problem. As far as I know I have an adult account, as I am able to switch profanity filter on (green with an I) and off (grey with an O), but it doesn't matter which of these it is set to, it still censors swearwords sent in the chat or signs etc.

I can't believe it's been going on since July 2022 and it isn't fixed now, 6 months later. It's so annoying having the censoring, me and my friends are adults and should be allowed to swear, it feels so patronising having our chats censored when my settings have the filter turned off.

This bug is occuring in version 1.19.3 in Java Edition, on realms.

I wish that instead of asking more and more questions, the Mods would actually provide some possible solutions. Can't believe I paid money thinking realms would be an easy solution for me to play with my friends, but no, something as basic as a profanity filter is insanely difficult to figure out for Microsoft, it seems.

For anyone still experiencing this problem, make absolutely sure you are not running script or ad blocking extensions of any kind of the settings page where the toggle is on minecraft.net. It seems this can cause the toggle to appear like it's working, but the commands are not sent to get the swear filter disabled in-game. This solved the problem for me.

I feel like this is avoidable and it's very stupid that this has to be toggled on the website. There needs to be better in-game interfaces for things that impact the game. It is NOT obvious at all to think to check script blocking on your browser for things happening in-game.

This is insane that this issue still haunts realms by default considering the fact that realms cost as much as they do.

Hey, I am having this issue and not having any luck. This says this ticket is resolved but I am not seeing a resolution here?

Resolving this as CR as I can not reproduce this.
