Searching for something doesn't show unresolved or recent bug reports first.

As the titles states. Not sure if this is a bug, or just a really annoying and bad feature.

When searching for something, the top results aren't purely unresolved ones, it will also show resolved ones, such as duplicates, works as intended, and fixed. Most of the time they also aren't what I'm looking for, so they are extremely inconvinient.

An alternative to the current system would be the ability to filter search by newest, or as unresolved first. If this is already a thing, it should be more easy to select.

Steps to reproduce.

  1. Search for some keywords that describe a bug you know of, but haven't previously viewed, as it seems to show reports you've viewed first.

  2. Check the resolution of the top results. I often find that the first is unresolved, the next couple are resolved, then a few afterwards are unresolved.

A better search function could also help reduce the amount of duplicates. My first report was a duplicate for this reason. Couldn't find anything that was unresolved on the first page, so I figured it hadn't been reported.

This search function is used by all jira instances, and if you would like this to be improved, this is something you would need to bring up with atlassian.

When searching, please make sure you're filtering by 'unresolved' reports if that's all you want to find.

On 'basic' search you can change it by clicking this button:

On 'advanced' search you can change it by adding in 'resolution = resolved' to your search query. You can also add 'order by created desc' which will show reports from when they were created, with the most recent bug report being the first result.
