Same thing happens on our realm as well. The thing is that it happens only to some of us, while other players have never experienced anything like this.
After log in, massive chunks of the world around the spawn area are missing/not loaded.
When some players can see missing chunks, others don't see it and they can safely walk into that area, while those who see it will fall though.
Sometimes this happens right at the spawn, causing players to fall though and suffocate.
After respawning, they will fall through again. It keeps happening at least the game is completely restarted.

I've noticed that if this thing is about to happen after log in, the realm loads much quicker than usual.
