@GoldenHelmet well in that case, can you forward this to someone on the dev team to check that it works right in the future? in my case it changes text to "#" so "K 13" becomes "####", even removing the space, changing capitalization doesn't stop it from changing it to "#" in place of each character, so my problem is indeed the swear filter, like i tried renaming another item some 4 letter artillery (4 letter profanity) and it changed it to "#" for each character as well, so in my case it's definitely the swear filter, perhaps split this into 2 bug reports, one regarding data corruption (blank signs, books, etc that aren't appearing), and one regarding incorrect profanity filter recognition (changing things like my "K 13" renamed map to "####" even though it's not a swear), because it seems that there is a lot of instances of each, either way, this bug has been open for over 2 years, and it's still not fixed. honestly if it doesn't get fixed soon i'm gonna boycott realms, stop paying for it, because i don't want to have to download a world, rename it in offline play, then re-upload it and replace the one on the realm every time i want to rename a map of mine. again, this really needs a fix.

other note of my 2 cents for the devs: give us an option to disable the profanity filter for our realms and worlds, and for realms, have it hidden behind another command, for example: "/gamerule showhiddencommands true" needs to be done to enable things like disabling the profanity filter, which could be "/gamerule dochatfiltering false", this way it will be a bit difficult to do, especially if you remove the "/gamerule showhiddencommands" from the command auto complete list (like where if you type "/gamerule show" it'll say "/gamerule showcoordinates" as a possible command), because firstly: most kids who are too young to see swears won't know how to use commands to begin with, secondly, they almost always use the auto-complete list for 99% of commands, at least the ones i've met, and then it's also gatekept behind another command, so not only is it hidden behind another command, but that command is also hidden, so it'll be really hard to do so, and the only place this will be logged is on a patch notes sub page that is age-gated to an appropriate age, something, just allow us to disable the profanity filter, also, allow a secondary option to filter chat for every member, so signs and item names won't be censored, but chat will be for that user, as a client side option. just some way to disable it, it doesn't have to be this complex, but it's just a thought.

i found this issue while making a map wall in realms on 1.17, in which "K 14" and many other alphanumerical grid names were censored, it's literally the letter K and a 2 digit number, and i don't see any way that's a swear in any language, or any of the others. alphanumerical map walls are now impossible to make unless you use my bypass method: download the world, rename your items, signs, whatever, get it all done, then re-upload the world to your realm (using the replace world function) and then enjoy. that's the only method i ever found to work. the best fix i suggest: allow us to toggle off the swear filter if we're the owner, so the owner of the realm and/or world can toggle it off for the entire server, or toggle it off client-side, and only people who have it turned off there will see chats with swear unfiltered. just an idea. either way this needs to be fixed, especially as this bug is over 2 whole years old. it's getting ridiculous.
