This is a real bug, as I've experienced it as well .I also found the map will store multiple green arrows form item frames, and they remain until you leave the map or restart MC. It's not a detrimental bug or anything of high priority, but it's still worth noting.
Maybe if the search function had worked correctly I and many others wouldn't have made so many duplicate threads.
