I am also experiencing this problem in MCPE 0.15.1.2 on a Motorola Xoom tablet. I've followed all the trouble-shooting steps on Google Play Store and Mojang, and nothing has helped.
Whether from the home screen on the tablet, the MCPE page in the Google Play Store, or from the app list in the tablet, opening the Minecraft: Pocket Edition application results in a black screen with no error message. After the black screen, I'm sent back to whatever screen I was just on (home screen, Google Play Store, or app list).
