Yes, Exactly the same for me. I wanted to see if I could use a blank spawn egg to give me a look of an empty mob spawner but instead my game crashes. The reason I (As a normal Minecraft PC Player) think is that the mob spawner does not recognize the spawn egg and cannot handle it. Resulting in a freeze and eventually crash. (Disclaimer: DO NOT take my word for the result of crash. I am only guessing!)
