Still happening to me, raid or not, doesn’t seem to have an effect. I’m in the 1.11.4 version.

Using a portal far enough away to unload the wither chunk worked for entering the nether. However, once the chunk is reloaded by travelling through the nether, the game crashes, even on peaceful mode
