For me, two songs begin playing at the same time, at sunrise and again at sunset. And as one song finishes, even when the other is playing, it loops to the next song, so I end up with perhaps two minutes out of every ten minute day/night cycle that doesn't have clashing music playing. It's a cacaphony of sound, and hard to listen for mobs when you can't hear them over the music. I'm playing in single player mode, on Windows XP sp3 and as it's a new world, created to see the new content, I have yet to acquire anything else that might play music (note blocks, jukeboxes, etc). Just plain old, unmodded Minecraft 1.7.2, played on Survival mode
