I'm having the same issue. I decided to remove my map out of the shield slot. I was hoping it would fix the issue. I went fishing and picked up a nautilus shell. When I picked up it went into the shield slot. I couldn't remove it. I had to save and exit before it would allow me to remove it. After I removed it, my map turned pink again. I had to save and exit. I'm playing on Xbox beta 1.15.0.51. 

I'm having the same issue. I'm playing on beta 1.15.0.51 on Xbox. Saving and exiting sometimes makes the game crash but it's the only thing that fixes the issue. My skin also turns pink, though. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall but that didn't fix it.
